What to expect from your leak repair appointment
When you book leak repair from Ding you get the skills and expertise of HomeServe, who have been looking after the nation’s homes for more than 30 years. Here's what to expect from your appointment:
We'll get there at a time to suit you
An expert plumber or drainage engineer will arrive at the time you booked. They’ll give you a call when they’re on their way.
We’ll assess the leak
While not all leaks are easily detectable and can require specialist equipment, our plumber will do their best to find the source of any leaks and put them right. If the leak is clearly visible, we’ll often be able to start working on a fix relatively quickly.
We’ll fix the leak
Once we’ve located the leak, we’ll start fixing it and provide any standard replacement parts. This might involve replacing a valve, repairing a section of pipe or something more involved depending on your situation. You’ll pay £135 for the first hour (unless the leak is underground i.e. a water supply pipe), and if the job is more complicated, we’ll give you a quote for the rest of the work.
How to tell if you have a water leak
Slow and concealed water leaks can be hard to detect without the proper tools, but there are a few tell-tale signs that help:
Increased water bills and low water pressure
If you’ve received a surprisingly high water bill then there’s a possibility there’s a leak somewhere. When combined with lower water pressure, it’s likely you have a leak in your pipe work and potentially your water supply pipe.
Stained walls or ceilings
A small leak in a hidden pipe behind your walls and ceilings can cause damp to build up over time, leaving surfaces stained with tidemarks – wavy discoloured lines near where the leak is. Also check for bubbling wallpaper.
Damp smells
If a room smells musty and damp with no obvious sign of a leak, there could be a hidden persistent leak somewhere.
