What to expect from your blocked drain appointment
When you book a drain unblocking appointment from Ding you get the skills and expertise of HomeServe, who have been looking after the nation’s homes for more than 30 years. Here's what to expect from your appointment:
We're on our way
An expert plumber or drainage engineer will arrive at the time you booked. They’ll give you a call when they’re on their way.
We'll assess the problem
The engineer will inspect the drain, sink or toilet to get to the bottom of the problem and they'll keep you informed of what's happening along the way.
We'll use the right tools for the job
If the blockage is in an outside drain or deep in the pipes, they may use a CCTV drain survey to find blockage. They’ll then use a drain auger and a high-pressure water jet to break it down.
We'll keep you in the loop
You’ll pay £175 for the first hour and, if it’s a bigger job or further parts are required, we’ll give you a quote for the work and make sure you’re happy with it before they continue.
Causes of blocked drains
If you have a good idea of what’s causing the blocked drain it can help us diagnose the problem quicker. If not, no worries – our drainage engineers will get to the bottom of it. Here are some common causes of blocked drains:

Who’s responsible for blocked outside drains?
It all depends on where the blockage is.
Your drain, your fix — if the outside drain pipework is within your property boundary it’s often your responsibility. In this case you can book one of our expert drainage engineers.
